Pre-School

At four YWCA program locations, children ages 2-5 meet their age appropriate developmental milestones in pre-reading and writing, sharing, communicating, conflict resolution, cognitive learning, large and fine motor dexterity, and cultural awareness. The program also enables low-income parents to continue working, going to school or seeking employment.

The culturally diverse ethnic backgrounds and experiences of the families are of tremendous value in creating a positive environment for growth. It uses the High/Scope Curriculum. This age appropriate curriculum revolves around individual needs and is inclusive of music, science, pre-reading, math and art activities. It also offers nutritional meals and snacks daily, through the Child and Adult Care Food Program. Parent participation is highly encouraged through Parent Advisory Committees (PAC). Each location has its own PAC, which meets monthly.

Programs are located in four district communities: ANGELES MESA, COMPTON, NORTH VALLEY, and the UNION PACIFIC area of East LA.
