In Honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month!

Dear Friends of the YWCA Greater Los Angeles (YWCA GLA),
It's hard to believe that domestic violence affects one in four women in their lifetime, or that it strikes more than 145 times each hour in the U.S. But it's even harder for so many afffected by the issue - or - those who may know someone impacted - to talk about it.
On Wednesday, October 19th, The Allstate Foundation and YWCA GLA will work to change that number through a TweetUp event, at 1215 Lodi Place | Los Angeles, CA 90038. We're calling them TweeUps because they're promoted online through social media, and they are designed to engage online advocates in real world action, in addition to recognizing Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
To reinforce their long-time support of the issue and inspire more people to get involved, The Allstate Foundation will donate $100 to the YWCA GLA on behalf of each TweetUp attendee. As an important organization to this community, we would like to invite you to attend our TweetUp event on Wednesday, October 19th from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. We hope you will consider informing your friends, collegues and family members about the event. Your support will ensure a $10,000 donation to the YWCA GLA, and help stop domestic violence.
