The YWCA Greater Los Angeles gratefully announces the partnership and support of two donors, JPMorgan Chase Foundation and Citibank, for two one-year programs. The JPMorgan Chase Foundation gave $70,000 toward the YWCA Career Training Academy, a program designed to teach learning objectives, prepare participants for job positions, exams and entrepreneurship. Citibank gave $25,000 toward the YWCA Job Corps BizCamp Asset Building experience with the goal of increasing the knowledge of asset building among participants and providing a program that inspires young people from low-income communities to recognize business opportunities and to plan for successful futures.

"Both efforts focus on a Hallmark Program and long-time pursuit of the YWCA, Economic Empowerment," expressed Tracy Solomon Clark, Director of Development. "Support from dedicated partners allows the YWCA to serve the community and prepare the coming generations for economic success and independence."

As part of the Job Corps BizCamp program, several activities have been incorporated to teach students how critical a solid understanding of money is both to the success of any business, and of course, to their own personal stability and independence. Within the Career Training Academy, all courses within the program consistently emphasize the connections between personal motivation, succeeding in the real world and the importance of being personally and financially independent. Importantly, the both programs teach young people to think like entrepreneurs, be open to learning and be empowered to take control of their lives.
