2010 YWCA Black & White Benefactrix Ball

Monday September 06, 2010

Dear Friends,

The theme of this year's YWCA Black & White Benefactrix Ball is "Soaring on Eagles' Wings to Greater and Greater Heights". We are in a time of celebration at the YWCA, we are realizing the fruits of years and years of planning and hard work. When we look at the girls, women and families that are benefitting from our efforts, we feel as though we are flying...soaring. As we celebrate we turn to the work that is ahead with increased faith, hope and expectation to do more for the sake of our community. It is a wonderful time. When I think about the caliber of honorees we are saluting this year, it reminds me of the magestic eagle. The eagle is noted for great vision and is so focused, it can fly in the direction of the sun and not be blinded. The eagle is fearless and with its 7000 feathers and seven foot wing span, it does not fear the storm. When the storm rages, the eagle spreads its wings and uses the wind to soar...and go higher. That is the quality of honorees we are celebrating this year. Eagles. Antonio Manning with the Corporate Champion Award, Congresswoman Diane Watson with the Silver Achievement Award and Daphna Ziman with the Soromundi (Sister of the World) Award. Let us come together at this event and celebrate the honorees, guests and YWCA supporters whose tenacious, majestic, fearless gift of flight...through good times and hard times, like the eagle, SOARS...to greater and greater heights.

Sincerely,
Faye Washington
