Be an Angel This Holiday Season!
Monday November 21, 2011
Dear Friends of YWCA GLA,
Ever since I was a child, I've loved this time of year. Can't you just feel the essence of the holidays in the air? The warmth of family and friends, the joy of celebration, the childhood memories of drinking hot cocoa, the spirit of generosity and good will to all... for me, all this and so much more represent the holiday season.
However, for many, the holidays can be a time of sadness, loneliness, and regret. Over 200 of our Los Angeles Job Corps students, have no family. They have nowhere to go. They truly are alone. For many of the people we serve, the holidays are just another day. Often they have no holiday traditions. No gifts to open. To help these students, children and families experience holiday cheer, every year YWCA staff and friends purchase gifts and gift cards and make donations through what we call our "Be an Angel" program. The program culminates with holiday festivities and a party. Dedicated individuals work to ensure that our participants enjoy the magic of the season and the joy of family that so many of us take for granted.
Won't you consider being an "angel" in the Los Angeles community this year?
Together, with other individuals like yourself your gift to the YWCA's Be an Angel Fund will provide each student, infant and toddler with a gift of their own. Please consider helping spread some holiday cheer this season. You can make a donation online or drop off an unwrapped gift or gift card to the YWCA GLA Executive Offices by Wednesday, December 14th. Any amount is appreciated. Click here to make a donation on our secure website.
Thank you for your partnership!
