YWCA 117th Annual Meeting

On Friday, July 29th the YWCA celebrated its 117th Annual Membership Meeting at the Omni Hotel. Attendees included YWCA members, staff, Board members, and community members.
"The YWCA Annual Meeting is an opportunity for us to celebrate the previous year while looking ahead to the coming year specifically as it relates to those who serve the organization and community," stated Faye Washington, YWCA CEO. "This year we gratefully acknowledged the service and leadership of our Board of Directors as we said goodbye to Juanita Holcombe-Hamilton, Karen Mayeda, Cheryle Babbitt, Ruth Lopez-Novodor, and Mauria McPolland. We welcomed three new board members: Samantha Jones, Robbin Narike, and Melissa Hibbert."
During the event, over 50 YWCA and Job Corps staff received special recognition for employee service. Ofelia Abundo, YWCA North Valley Site Director, received the "Superior Performance Award". Two Job Corps students, Betelehem Kebede and Dayshonna Marshall, were named "Young Women of Promise" and the volunteer of the year awards went to Blanca Flores and Mr. & Mrs. Rolfe.
